These guys have rules!!!

Does not really effect us, just so you know their agenda, here ya go...

Quote
2013 Veteran Fly Fishing Agenda

Veteran count 25 maximum

Volunteer orientation: (The Veteran orientation notes are on Page #2)
Badge color explanation (Veterans must have signed & VA Auth. before being photographed!)
Veterans will have White Badges – These veterans may be photographed
Veterans with Red Badges – ARE NOT TO BE PHOTOGRAPHED
Volunteers will have Blue Badges
VA Staff will have Yellow Badges
Badge is permission to be in the fishing area and meal ticket (Badges will be collected at lunch)
We want these veterans to have a safe & fun day of Fly Fishing and learning about Fly Fishing as a relaxing pastime, so:
We want to have an area for Fly Tying for those who want to tie a fly to catch their fish.
We want to have an area where they can learn about the various knots we use in Fly Fishing.
We want to have an area where they can learn and apply some casting skills
We do not want the veterans to just grab a rod and fish
Beach Master will assign a rod & a volunteer
If a veteran has their own rod/reel and wants to do their own thing – they can double up but no more than 2 veterans/volunteer
Volunteers with their veteran must rotate as directed by the Beach Master
Beach Master is:
Harry Levin (Who will pick his crew)
The Beach Master has the final say about conditions and activity at the beach
Any issues contact Ken Brunskill 1st, or a VA Staff member & they will work out details on any veteran issues.
Hat and eyewear for protection to be worn at all times by veterans & volunteers (Volunteers be a good example.)
(8) Max fishing at a time max
Start at far RH side of fishing area, and move to left as determined by catch rate or 10 min. cycle. Catch a fish = move out & make room for another.
Once a fish is caught we need a person to get the veterans name and a photo of the veteran with their fish – the fish must be killed, measured & weighed.
Do not leave the veterans side when they are fishing
Need volunteers to photograph and take fish to the cleaning station
Need volunteers to clean & weigh the fish.
Do not walk into the fishing area when others are casting
Event is about veterans catching a fish with a fly rod – try to engage a veteran rather than another volunteer (Volunteers do not fish until there are  no veterans who are still wanting to fish)
Take pictures but do not email, publish or distribute until pictures have been OK’d by  VA staff
Do not approach veteran or make loud noise from behind any of these veterans
Give them the guidance you would expect from the very best guide (That is you now)
Allow the veteran to lead the topic of any discussion, Ok to ask what branch and where they served

This one is coming up fast....

I have Raydon, GB2, ben and me,  if couple more want to show, that's fine, it's low key event for us... Kathy from Delta Adventures is bringing extra yaks so we just have to show with our stuff and bait. I have poles and scattered terminal tackle along with power bait and probably pick up some worms.

See ya guys there....

Just bring your own yaks and stuff, I'm going to get there between 7 and 8, feel free to get there earlier or later...

and anything that you might want to use to target whatever your going for... I have soem terminal tackle, power bait, weights, hooks, but a few extra won't hurt...

I have enough poles....

Say your with " Veterans Fly Fishing and "Heroes on the water"... one of them should get you through the gate without paying for anything.

and there is no quagga inspection...

not sure where we are setting up, there will be food,

see ya there    :smt006

Extra yaks are not showing till 9 to 9;30, so no need to be by shore till then
I've got admin stuff and getting those who want to go set up...  I'll radio you guys when kathy arrives to help her unload the yaks...

I've have plenty of poles, terminal tackle, worms, a little light on power bait, but I think we'll get by...

and of course we all need to sign waivers...

Getting there between 8 and 9,,,

see ya tomorrow and anyone last minute is more than welcome...

Don -

Thanks for organizing. The vets had a good time. The trout slugfest at the end was fun too.  :smt005 :smt005 :smt005 I will be smoking the trout on Sunday and will bring some for you, Ben and Ray at GS.

Ben Ray and Scott,
It was a pleasure meeting you guys, and working with our Vets.  There is a great sense satisfaction seeing our wounded warriors enjoyed themselves.
Thank you for your continuous hard work
Jose
