I was at Coyote Lake last wknd and there were dead and dying crappie everywhere. When it got windy, there were dozens of dead crappie floatin into our little cove on the creek side. We also caught a bunch and saw others catching them btw.
It was really weird and only seemed to affect the crappie. Their fins appeared to have an ich-like disease and bleeding near the base of pectoral fins. Maybe a crappie-specific STD?
Anybody know why this might be happening?

Thanks for the report Pat.  Did you happen to take any pictures?

I'll try to post some pics later...still need to download them. But there had to be hundreds of dead crappie--I saw at least 2 dozen in my limited time OTW.

On Saturday, I drove past Anderson my way to run the Mt. Sizer loop at Henry Coe.
Didn't see anything.  But then again, I was there real early, and half comatose on the drive home.
You'd think both Anderson and Coyote would be affected.  Aren't they connected via Coyote Creek?
