I think you are right about not selling the house, Thanks for all the input. It is going to be a difficult decision to make for sure. It does look like a great place to live but too many things I love out here and if money is worth the change. Good thing about it I can still be apart of the NCKA just the North Carolina Kayak anglers  :smt005. Will make a decision soon but I am feeling that staying in Cali is the best and another thing:

Who's got it better than us! Nobody! Go Niners!   :smt005 :smt044

Beautiful place. I'd be willing to move there if I could take my daughters, son, and grandchildren with me.

I lived in the upstate of SC and would go to NC often.  Beautiful area.  If I am not mistaken Wilmington is more coastal than where i was.  The Western side of the state is beautiful, trout fishing back there is very nice.  Ocean fishing is warmer, chance to go after Dolfin/dorado/Mahi, shark, and host of other Eastern Sport fish. Blue crab are abundent, NC is a very gun friendly, fishing, outdoors state.

BBQ: North Carolina is distinctly big on Pulled Pork with a vinegar type sauce (had some last night), Pulled Pork Sandwich is often accompanied by cole slaw, you may be at a loss as what to do with said slaw.  Californians have a tendency to eat it, that would show immediatly that "you're not from around here are you?"  The correct method is to place said slaw on your BBQ  Pulled pork and slather it generously with with said vinegar sauce and than eat it.

Dude:  not a word on ther East Coast
It is very common to refer to people by Sir or Ma'am

Black Church:  I am a former Paramedic, the first time I was in SC and some one told me look for the black church, stupid me, I looked for a church that was black in exterior color.  Get used to this, as it is a reference by everyone, its the south. Unless it is Sunday Morning or Wednesday Night(explained later) you will never know what color a church is until you have lived there for a while.

Directions:  Buy a Good GPS.  If you aren't a local directions will make no sense to you in any way shape or fashion.  a common direction " take old Slaters road, you know where the big oak tree was, you know the one that got struck by lighting ten years ago?  Well it ain't there anymore, but thats where you turn.  Nough said get a good GPS.

Wednesday Afternoons:  be advised should you decide to live in a more rural area, it is tradition for shops to close early on a Wednesday so folks can get ready for church on Wednesday night.

Funeral's:  Should a funeral procession pass you at intersection, tradition is to let them all  pass, even if your light turns green.

Should you see a funeral coming your way, pull offf to the side of the road and let it pass.

Vegtables: don't expect to have a lot of wholesome vegatbles in the south, boiling it to death with some form of pork fat is the norm.  If that didn't work, deep frying is the other option.

Stir Fry:  You must not be from around here are you?   Why on earth one anyone stir the deep fryer.

Unofficial holidays acceptable to take a day off from:  Any North Carolina College Playing in a National Championship, local HS team playing in a  championship, opening day of fishing season, opening day of deer season.  Anything that has anything to do with the Confedercy Anniversy/Birthday.

Take notice:  The Supreme Court has ruled it is okay to defame US flag as a means of expression or art, they did not extend that right to Stars and Bars. Do so at your own peril.

If your kids like to wear droopy pants, they won't after going to school there, as sure as hell they won't fit in.  They also won't fit in because they are most likely ahead of their peers in just about everything.

High Powered Bass Boats yield too the following, Ships of the Confederacy (there aren't many so don't expect them to yeild too you for any reason.

White Water:  North Carolina has the Nanahala River which I have rafted, great fun!

Ashley, home of huge Biltmore castle/ hotel, and great fresh water shrimp, and Hipies who could not afford to move SF.

NASCAR: we know you got a track in Northern California, but don't you folks know how to make a circle?

RTP: Research Triangle Park, Silicone valley of the South East

Shine: Your neighbor may make some great shine or it may suck, but no matter what you never ever call a revenuer

traditionally SHine makers will rat out Meth labs, and crack houses.

Trot line: used to catch a lot of catfish

LMB: Large mouth bass, king of southern fresh water fishing!

Most people will never give a damn about how it is done in California, Michigan, Boston, or anywhere else.  That is the way they do it, and will continue to do it, and you damn yankees need to learn that (your not from around here are you, damn yankees!)

Everyone who is not from South of the Mason/DOxon line is a damn yankee.

High school homie of mine has lived there for the past 12 years or so, and likes it.  Southern end of the Striper run.  Other than that, don't know much about it.

Staying here! Just too many things unknown to make the move! Glad I am staying in California! Especially right after I just got into duck hunting!  :smt005  Now I don't have to stress about missing GS7 and beyond!   :smt044
