Isn't there another river outlet near there? Maybe the Gualala?

Ruben

Be careful of the beach at Gualala.
When the river rises over the beach it goes from a trickle to full blow out in no time flat.
It's washed a couple of people away.

Gerstle Cove launch is a good one IF you have a partner.  The road you back down to launch is short & easy.  There are restrooms and a fish cleaning station at the top of the hill.  $8 per vehicle.  On the downside, some of the stairs at the launch have eroded/washed out & haven't been replaced.  The stones which comprise the beach are grapefruit-sized & very slippery, it really helps to have another person.  The cove is as calm a put-in as there is & the protected area is surprisingly small.  The boundary marker to the north was yellow paint daubed on the rocks.  The rangers check out the cove frequently & its probably a good idea to have your gear stowed while passing through the protected area.

Roger that on what Montereyjack said.  You need to back your car down to the launch, get your gear out, then park your car.

Not a very far walk, but a little steep.  When you come back you can pull your yak back to the cleaning station then hose it down.  I will bring a short hose for that. If you leave your wheels off while you are out, make sure they are locked.  I lost my unsecured wheels earlier this summer.

I have fished anchor bay a few times. Pretty easy launch, not to far to fishing. Caught blacks, blues, cabs, & lings inside fish rock.

Isn't there another river outlet near there? Maybe the Gualala?

If you want to fish that area I suggest try going out of Cooks Beach which is on the northern end of town.  I also suggest to bring a smaller kayak if you have one and a partmer as it can be difficult to get to the beach by yourself.

Hey Ray, are you planning on being at TC on Tuesday as well? I'm thinking of heading up there but won't go alone.
