Hobie Revo Questions

Hey guys im tryin to enter the dark side.  What is there to look for in them as far as use? How old is to old? what year was best an what features are a must other then Turbo fins?

twist and stow rudder, click and go drive. I'd say the only other upgrade would be the sailing rudder.

Does the 08 have those? looking into one of those currently

I've got an 08 Outback and it has the twist and stow rudder so I'd guess the Revo you're looking at has it also.  In fact, I'm pretty sure the Revo came out after the twist and stow so all Revo's should have that feature.

The click-n-go drive is a different story.  My OB does not have the click-n-go but quite honestly, it's a feature I can live without.

'08s have twist and stow.  much easier for transport.  I never had a problem with camlocks on my older kayaks, i had them on a hobie sport, OB and an adventure.  they tended to wiggle a little but not a huge problem.

turbo fins are a nice upgrade - but they're an extra expense.  of course I'm not trying to be biased or anything about the kayak you're looking into buying

After owning a dozen paddle yaks in the last 6yrs, so far I am unimpressed with my Revo...but I've only used it 5x since buying it. So the jury is still out, for me.

Is there a way to tell what year a revo is by looking at it

Also any differences between 09 an 10

I had an 09 and I liked it just fine.
