I actually forgot it at home...haha

In the tournament bass fishing world I understand why people use them. It's a living. In the recreational world where you are going to release them anyway the reasons are less clear. If you cast one 50-100 times and say you are having a good time, well maybe.  I am not opposed to A rigs but prefer a finess approach to CNR. Too many years as a fly angler. Not saying that people shouldnt use them. 

They are a pain to throw for a long time, even with the right rod and reel.

His tackle have the Cali-rig (3hook) made by their own (Hippo). It's pretty neat really cause it folds on itself. If you  already have the A-rig, there are these screws attached to a swivel you can buy also. I personally don't like throwing them as I don't have the muscle stamina to throw them all day.

I've been tossing one of these silly things at every body of water with every configuration of live/fake baits you can Imagine. Still nothing but weeds and an old sock. I've got two of them... I didn't know anyone still fished with those.  They must be a cousin to the "banjo lure".
