June 3rd / Saturday / Fort Ross Abalone and Spearfishing

I will be driving a grape color Ford Windstar.  I forgot to ask if you are going to be freedive spearfishing or with tank.  I did not initially plan on bringing my scuba gear, maybe I'll give freedive spearfishing a try .

we'll be freediving. if you want to get abalone you should have the abalone punch card as well. we cant get abalone with scuba gear.

Salt point said the vis today is 15-20'.  My condition site just mellowed out the report today to 5-15kts wind, 2-4' nw swell +3' S swell.  Looks like a go at this point.

I have a blue astro van and a sky blue tandem and a red drifter.  I'll have another guy along too.

sounds like fun! we'll see you folks there and i'll share some spots i know with you folks. my parents have the same van, i once took it down to baja for a week and it gave me shelter in the rain and it carried everything i had perfectly. i wish i had that kind of space these days.

Cool.  Looking forward to pushing my limits out a bit to keep up with more experienced guys.  Haven't even tried diving deeper than 25' yet, but if we get 20' vis I should be able to strafe rock-sitting lings in 40' just fine.

Hey Henry,

At least you'll get one day in the water! I would like to carpool but I actually have to head to the valley afterwards where my wife's uncle lives. He is prepping his boat and Sunday we are destined to go to Monterey and take it out so I have to go and help with this whole process and being all my tools along with me to get the motor going.

can you still come anyhow to Fort Ross?

I'll bring the extra gun.
