Chris, we will gladly trade you some YT for some BF...that real tuna is GOLD up here. We caught two BF a couple years back and had to weight each piece during the fish split to keep it fair :smt003

such great pics. The Yellow must have been a surprise eh?

The Yellow was a surprise but not unexpected if that makes any sense at all. A couple years back we landed two YT out of Bodega one day after trolling by a huge round chunk of dock foam so we troll paddys when we see them.   We are still waiting for our first dorado up here.  While out there Wednesday I spotted a fin cruising across the glassy water....looked like a sword fish slowly skimming the surface...kinda that lazy back and forth motion I have seen on tv. We did land 5 albies around the mystery fish.

Nice pics Allen thanks for sharing. I remember back in the 80's sailfish and barracuda being caught inside SF bay during an El Niño. The locals were freaking out!

I'm with you guys when it's time to pick who to be stuck with on a deserted island.

Yellowtail, you say? And I just happen to have this Hamachi Kama recipe:

Makes perfect sense abt the yellowtail & the marine debris, O2B.

For what it worth, all the science-types I know are talking about the El Nino that is firing up. I'm not sure if the effects on fishing are felt this summer or next, but I am preparing for a wet winter in 2012-2013.

Somebody told me hamachi comes from Japan...the eastern pacific aka CA yellowtails are called Hiramasa. But don't quote me on it--and don't change your name John (-:
