I have not installed the rod tube as I find I rarley used the rod pod in fresh water.
As stated above, my only concern at this point is the seating arrangement. If I can't make that work, than the rest is a waste. Ordering the "Necky" seat and hoping that makes for a better ride.

I think a 5" twist-lock hatch inside the center hatch might be better than installing a rod tube. It would give you more flexibility in terms of storage (rod tube only holds 2 rods?).

...I was thinking the same.

I installed the rod tube on the 4.7 and it will hold more than two rods but the reels have to be off. I will have a 4.3 soon and Im going to fish the crap out of it this year. I hope to have it for Riccis Berry event. Mooch you can paddle it all day and night buddy.

The flush-mounts on the side are angled forward though...instead of to the side. So not the best for trolling, but fine for soaking bait etc. I'm thinking the Scotty gimball mounts would be a perfect compliment though.

Pat I totally forgot, I actually have some scotty gimbal mounts that I got with my T13 lol  :smt003 Anyways, I tried to see how the gimbals would work on the ultra's flush mount.

Result: Will not work w/o doing some mods to the gimbal mount, unless the mounts come in shorter size than the 9" length.

Ultra's flush rod holders are actually shorter in length than the T13 and possibly other yak flush mounts. Thus, the gimbal is about 1.5"-2" too long. In order to make it work, I've gotta cut gimbal mount and find a way replace the bottom portion cap back onto the mount.

Good idea though, especially if one tries to minimize making holes into their yak.

I got to paddle/fish the 4.3 for a few hours at Eric's Clear Lake event - Thank you Eric for hauling it!

My 2 cents....The rod pod could be narrower and could be moved further forward from the seating area. The edge rubs my inner thighs and unfortunately, it's does not turn me on  :smt002

I also agree with Eric regarding the seating position - but a better seat might solve that problem.

The 4.3 does paddle like a champ - no doubt there!  :smt045
