I'm looking to buy my first kayak. Actually, I'm in the market for two and have found a couple I'm interested in. Originally, I was looking to buy a Hobie, but they are few and far between.
I've found two Trident Prowler 13's that seem to be in very good shape. 1 year old and supposedly hardly used.
My goal is to find a couple of all-around kayaks that would be equally reliable in the ocean, lakes, and relatively slow moving rivers/streams.
I'd appreciate any advice. I'm sure these two Tridents will move quickly and don't want to miss a good opportunity if this is one.
Thanks.

Honestly, the T13 might be the best all-around kayak out there. Especially if you plan to use them on the ocean, lakes, and rivers in CA. I say go for it, as long as they're under 700ea. Any more $ and you might as well buy new.

I love my T13.  If you will use it for saltwater consider bright colors for better visibility.  Yellow, Orange or Red are most visible.
I read an actual US Navy research and report for rescues mentioning those colors.

These are priced right at 1400 for the pair. They do not have rudders as far as I know, buy they are angler editions. If in good shape and if I can talk the seller down a bit, would they be worth it, and should I be concerned about rudders? Thanks for the help, Sin Coast. Total rookie here!

I wouldn't be on a 13. Rudders on a 13 aren't all that necessary and can complicate things (gotta be careful you don't bend or break them when handling off the water).  Are thay helpful, yes, not having them wouldn't be a concern to me.

At 700 each its a good price. Do they have the seats, paddles, or any other accessories with the deal? A rudder on the T-15 is almost a must. With with less wind resistance on the shorter 13 model you will be OK for the most part. A rudder will keep you on track in windy conditions. Its not for steering its for keeping your line.

Welcome To This Maddeness!
Buy them!!  Angler Editions at that price is well worth it.....no rudders needed and VERY Ocean worthy.

Thanks for all of the advice guys. I had made arrangements to buy both of them tomorrow and then the guy went and sold one of them. WEAKSAUCE! Oh well, I guess the search continues.

New here but my best advise is go with something with easy hull access right infront of u.  Helps with getting water out if its leakinga an its better to put ur rods inside ur yak then leash them to the yak or to lose them. Sand kills bearings if u turn it over in the surf ask yakhopper he'll tell ya

Stay away from the big game.  I had two and sold them.  They are hard to paddle as they are very wide.  They are hard to keep straight in the wind as well.  Coming in through the surf one time all I did was paddle on the left to get in.
