Has anyone ever paddled/fished Big Sur river?  I was reading an article about the Big Sur river last night, and it said that there was a seven mile stretch that was good for kayaking & tubing.  I can't recall seeing too much on here about the Big Sur River, does anyone have any info?  GF and I are contemplating going down it a little later.  Any input is appreciated.

You could kayak down the lower Big Sur river, but it wouldn't be easy. There are many obstructions (logjams) and sections that are probably too shallow. And you can't fish right now. But it could be done! I fish the lower river during steelhead season (Dec-March) and the upper river during trout season (May-Nov). It's a beautiful little river. In the past (before the Pt Sur SMR), guys would launch their yaks above Molera park and float down to the ocean...to surf launch and fish for rockies/lings/butts. Because otherwise it's a 2-mile cart from the nearest parking to the ocean.

Hope to get out there in the next month or so.  May try to plan a recon trip for some hiking sooner than that.
