Evidence of ancient lake in Eel River drainage

Found this article this morning.  Apparently, a massive landslide over 20 thousand years ago may have formed a huge "reservoir" that lasted over 600 years.  Could this explain the genetic similarities between summer- and winter-run Eel River steelhead?  Very interesting!
