... but does anyone really wanna keep a little skinny ass 22" ling?

The reason why F&G reduced the size limit was lowered from 24" to 22" for lings was to try to reduce the population of them. They are creating a negative impact on the Rockfish popluation by eating the smaller rockfish.

So I was told numerous reputable fisherman to retain any legal size ling; even the 22ish size.

Just my 2 cents...

And what was their reasoning for increasing the ling size limit to 30" back in '04?

This is the same F&G that raised the limits of cabs to three this year, even though in the past we've had emergency closures due to met/exceeded quotas pretty much annually. Believe me, there is not an over-abundance of ANY fish on our coast that needs man's intervention to help straighten out.

PS - sorry for the thread jack, Chaeki!

Lol, I don't mind.  If I caught a 22", I would take it in a heartbeat!  I just can't get enough fish!  2 years ago, I was just a computer nerd, go figure, lol.

I hear ya on that.    I didn't know the reason was there's too many lings...      Heck I was letting the 24" fish go for same reason.
Sometimes the fish isn't the only prize.

Awesome job Chaeki on the yak fishing outing  :thumleft:  I know you will eventually land a legal ling, a bigun as a matter of fact! :D

Your view on how easy kayak anglers make it look catching fish is the way I view the freedivers shooting fish... with high esteem brother :D

Thanks for the report and video hyung.
