My sons birthday is on Sept 6th and we want to go camping. We had originally planned to go to Shelter Cove, but the R/F is closed at that time. So now we are thinking of going to Pt Arena or Limekiln, but have never been to either place. We are looking for some advice on either place or anywhere south of Pt Arena, but north of Bodega Bay.

Salt Pt State park is my favorite place to camp coastside but south of Pt Arena with abs and RGC and lings open in Sept.  its about 100 mi from the Benicia Brdg, or about 30 min north of Jenner. Once there you can launch yaks at inside the park (Salt Pt), Timber Cove, Stillwater Cove (N), Ocean Cove, or Ft Ross, (all within 10 min of your camp).

That's a popular time up there so if you pick that spot better make reservations.
This is a pretty secluded area in that scenery is about all you'll find 45 minutes north or south.

Normally you have to book a site 6-9 months in advance to get a spot @ Limekiln (www.reserveamerica.com). So that might make your decision a little bit easier...
