I know, theres a campground right there, my family hates going to side winding road ZIGZAG, they all get sick, so I am looking for a near State Park 1hour or less to Shelter Cove would be ideal, anyone knows any? I am pretty sure I might be late oh well thought I'll give it a shot anyway...

I hope your family likes redwoods, 80-90 degree temps, and the beautiful South Fork of the Eel River!!  Check out Dean Creek Resort - 40 minutes to the Cove, less than 5 minutes from gas and groceries, 30 seconds off 101 just north of Redway.  Benbow would be another option but adds a few minutes.  Burlington Campground up in Humboldt Redwoods State Park is good too, but it's 15 minutes north of the Redway exit.  Good luck.   :smt001

Haha google's a hellofadrug!
There's a couple campgrounds along 101 south of Redway too. But they're probably an hour+ drive to the Cove. Definitely checkout Eric's recommendations.

Dude - you ask for advice and then DIS me like that?!!   :smt005

Turn your map upside down and you'll see that Richardson Grove is south of Redway.  Either way, I think it's too far.  Too bad Dean Creek's sold out - maybe check into Benbow Lake State Recreation Area - it's only a bit closer than Richardson though.

My last trip to the cove I just found a house under construction and camped out in the garage...effective, but not recommended for the family!  :smt003
