Thanks—not sure how much ocean fishing I'll be doing this year, but I hope to get in some.

Mel, it's the same printing that came out a month ago. So you probably have this one already.
The real kicker is going to be the supplemental regs booklet that w/b printed in a few weeks. If everything goes as planned, the new 2011-12 bottomfish regs will go into effect around June 1st [22" ling, 3 cabs, etc] and the North Central region aka da bean will open 2 weeks early on June 1st instead of June 13th.

Thanks Sonny,
It's amazing that it takes 92 pages to document the rules for fishing.  I wonder what the regs looked like 20 years ago.  It seems to get more complex every year. I support doing everything possible to protect and preserve our environment but fishing regulations shouldn't need to be so complex.  I guess it's kind of like the tax codes, ever changing and increasingly more difficult to understand.

If you got rid of the MLPA's it would be half that size. (One can only dream :smt003)

I love the fact that we print the book and just a month and a half later we print the supplemental book.  And we wonder why our state is broke. :smt011

Regs may not be getting easier, but sifting through them should get easier.  DFG is currently working on web/mobile apps which will (hopefully) make it easier to find the regulations you need.  I have seen some of the preliminary work, and it looks pretty sweet. I just hope they include my steelhead location/ watershed map on the new app :)
