Sunday, May 15th - Gimme Shelter Kayakfishing Tournament - Dawn until 2PM is fishing time.  Although 2PM is pushing it becasue the check-in closes @2PM...  The check-in station will be at the launch - look for the 4x8 piece of plywood painted and sharpied into a scoreboard.  If you don't fill out a scorecard you won't be in the raffle, and no entries will be allowed after the check-in station is dismantled.  No entries will be allowed at The Tides Inn.  Awards and potluck start around 3:30 to 4PM at The Tides Inn.

Entries will be fish to be measured at check-in OR photos of fish on a measuring device such as a Hawg Trough, and "GS5" must be present in the photo.

Points per inch will be awarded for largest of these species:

Rockfish - 7 points per inch
Lingcod - 5 points per inch
Cabezon - 7 points per inch
Greenling - 11 points per inch
Salmon - 5 points per inch
Halibut - 5 points per inch
Flounder - 8 points per inch (dabs, sole, starry...)
Perch - 12 points per inch

A bonus inch will be awarded for C&R with a photo with GS5 included in the photo.

Trout would get points too, but kayakfishing for one near Shelter Cove is pretty tough!   :smt001

And the only type of trout you can keep in the ocean are browns and cutthroats. So, you're more-likely to catch a sturgeon or WSB than a legal trout.

I really like the idea of a check-in station on the beach!

Don't want to send anyone on a wild goose chase here, but there are creeks within a few miles of the Cove where trout can be caught - they're hardly big enough for a boat though!   :smt005
