Rockfish Opener

Anyone want to go fish the Mill Creek area? It is about halfway between Big Sur and San Simeon, I am going to go over Nacimiento Ferguson.

I am thinking of doing exactly that. Are there any good places to camp nearby?

I am sure there is some camping. It is around a hour from my house so I just drive over and back. I might not make it since I am suposed to fish salmon this weekend, Comercial season starts next week.

There is camping near mill creek, Kirk Creek and Plaskett Creek which are on the one and Ponderosa which is about 12 miles inland on Naci-ferguson Rd.  Go to Reserveamerica.com, you get all the pertinent details or search those campsite names in the forums, they are discussed in detail.  usually booked full for the summer by now but i think they might leave a few first come first serve but not positive on that one.

It sounds like Naci-Furgeson Rd is the ONLY way to reach Big Sur on the opener. Because the Big Sur Marathon (on 5/1) closes Hwy 1 from Carmel to Big Sur. And they estimate 4-6wks to cleanup the newest slide near Monterey/SLO Co line at Alder Ck. So you can't get there from the north or the south on 1. Have to cut across from 101 through Ft Hunter-Liggett, which is a pretty gnarly detour. 

Talked to my budy last night. I am salmon fishing Saturday and my brother and I will be fishing Mill Creek Sunday. I plan to leave my house by 6 and be on the water by 8
