Beautiful MT. Tam area hike

Craig, that newt is either a Roughskin, California, or Redbelly.  I'm not real good on my newt IDs, but all of those three are extremely toxic.......so no finger lickin after newt handling.  I know you old guys sometimes get disoriented, so I just thought I'd remind you.

Dave, thanks ! I had no idea they were that toxic. I just looked up all 3 specie you described and I believe its a rough skin newt. The description in Wiki says that they are toxic but only if they are consumed. Enough toxin in one newt to kill 7,500 mice. HOLY SHIT! So much for the eye of newt stew. That old hag that gave me the recipe WAS evil.
