Little did I know back in 93, that a random fishing trip in the eastern sierras, with a crew Id never met, would set me on a path of adventures with the best friends anyone could hope for.
Along with a meta-human ability to be practically immune to the effects of cold, the PolarCat is one of the best anglers Ive ever had the pleasure to fish/kayak with. Its the reason that he is currently sporting the much coveted "coach" moniker among those known as Team Bridgeport.
Happy birthday and big love for ya brother.
I hope you come back to the NCKA to help TBP contribute.
Its tough to be a team without a coach.

now the tribute

Happy late B-Day Shirk! I had a great time fishing with you guys the last few years and I can't wait to start hitting it again. And I'll try to stop losing geer and begging from you guys so much!   :smt003

Here's a few pics from our adventures and a cool Mendo shot.

It's gonna be a great year!

Thanks Men,

The best thing about just getting out and fishing with a couple of folks you don't know is that you're libel to be friends with those folks for the rest of your life.  No kidding.  That's what happens.  We found out we have some things in common and the divergent paths of life never keep us from getting together 2-3 times a year.  Hopefully the next is the San Juaquin in April (read "Trash Talk") in Scotty's current stomping grounds.

One of the great things about every one of these guys (besides the fact that they recognize the imperviousness of the Polarcat) is that if they say "hey men, I'm inviting a new guy and don't worry he's one of us".  Take it to the bank.  He's a good dude.

If you can get one or two friends like that, you're golden.

'93 was a pretty good year for me.

Thanks fellas

See you soon
