Does anybody know what's the deal with the stripers in Mendo? I know that lake stays pretty quite but its still gotta to have a few stripers..Right? Wasn't the DFG stocking it, then stopped several years ago?

I don't know about the DFG but I do know the local CSBA chapter planted it for a few years although I'm not sure if they still do.  I remember talking to Sean White about it and from what I remember, those little guys weren't cheap to purchase.

Ya, I remember all those big stripers Sean and his son were pulling. Just wondering if its worth the price of diesel to give it a try. Thanks

Boil activity on the south side last time I was there. Of course I fished the north side that day. That was months ago, though.

That's a good sign. Guess I'll give it a shot then.
Basically wondering if the stripers aren't being stocked anymore is the fishery going to disappear? I guess that would mean more perch and bluegill. just rambling.  Thanks Rockhopper

Might still be pretty muddy
Group IQ is inversely proportional to the size of the group.

I can't remember whether Sean said the stocked stripers were able to reproduce or not. Anyone? Bueller?

From the CSBA website

The stripers in Lake Mendocino and San Antonio Reservoir were planted there and provide fishing, but have not shown any evidence of successful reproduction.

It's definitely possible. Because the stripers in San Antonio spawn in the river when the conditions are right...like once every 5yrs or so. But I don't know what the Russian looks like above Lake Mendo, or if it's conducive to striper breeding. Like Kevin Garnett "anything is possible!"

That is what they said about New Hogan long time ago. Stripers won't spawn here....
