The biggest rooster we caught was right in front of Crocodile bay lodge, most of our fishing and where we stayed was about 45 minutes north up a very bumpy dirt road.

How did it work?

Does Crocodile Bay Lodge have yaks our are these guys ( 45 min. north ) running a operation with yaks?

Costa Rica is just Amazing and it's been way too long since I have been back...

quick story.... :smt003

I was on my 5 week Honeymoon, and we were on a week at Lake Arenal....

Cabanas with there own canoes!!!  I was after the Gaupote Bass... no luck....  :smt009

I asked the locals what to use... " Bananas..."  :munky2:

Well, I must look like a Monkeys uncle... and I'm sure as Hell not going to use a F#@#$ Banana!!!

I'm out with my wife on the lake as this is now the only way she can spend time with new Husband....  :smt012

I'm still having no luck.... " Why don't you use the Bananas...? "  :smt061

Ya right...  " Well then, let me try a Banana... "

I set her up with a Bowie knife drop line with Banana....  was not 5 seconds...

Fish On!!!  wasn't the Guapote, but non stop action on the Machacha....

trout like Piranha Fish thing....

Love Costa Rica... and if ya make to Arenal....

They were about an hour each. Likely could have landed them faster but like I said, they were big

Jim, The shots turned out great. Especially the last one with the fish and the deep blue. That dude looks like Sharky kind of. Thanks  for the porn. Craig

No Dan we were not fishing out of Crocodile bay lodge. Joe and Steve each have kayaks for use. Joe lives in town so right near there, Steve is 45 mintes north near the lodge, Encanta La Vida, in which we stayed.

I think when we go again, someday, we are going to try Zancudo Lodge. Its right across the bay from Crocodile Bay Lodge, but cheaper. When we went there we were the only "blue collar" folks there. It is very nice, but you won't spend your days in the lodge. We horse backed the rain forest & beach, hiked into rain forest, went body surfing, ATV'n (50 miles) and of course fished 3 days. The rain forests are amazing. We saw all 3 species of monkeys, ant eater, sloth, tucan, macaws, poisonous dart frogs, crocodile & camen, and tons of other reptiles and fawna. Here is the link to the other place we are going to try next. BTW, they are a sponsor of Coastside.

Thats a rich man's fishing trip.  I can only fantasize.....

Not really.  As long as you do not go to the Crocadile Lodge type place you can actually get by reasonally.  Wife and I were there for a month 2 years ago, and probably spent $4000-5000 total for the 4 weeks.  We rented a car, I do get a very good Avis Corporate rate still, and traveled all over the country.  Lots of the Cabana's, motels were in the $50-$75 rate. 2 star, not the Ritz.  Guide in Tortuguero was $400 a day for 1 or two people in the boat for Tarpon.  Pacific Side was lots more expensive for fishing boats, but most are big sport fishers I saw, and not Pangas like Baja.  If you speak a little Spanish it does help.  Wife and I are fairly low maintenance overall, and can go without reservations for rooms and see what is available most of the time.  Just have reservations for when I arrive for a day or 2 and then make a reservation for a hotel near the airport for departure time.
