i just use the soap and sponge/rag because i feel like its my yak and i gotta clean it personal-style.  it only gets washed every few months so not like its very inconvenient for me.  after i go in the salt i just spray it down.

When its brown with mud and has lots of sticks/leaves in all the bungee's I wash with the hose and my hand (special made scrubber, 4 million years in making).

when the inside has a great funk...water and drain, dry with portable heater in the hatch if needed

storage: under the eves where its dry and shady  :)
Be careful with heater those thing melt, I just hose the hell out of it. Open the hatches and turn it up side down.

yeah, I use a tiny little heater that just warms the hull a little bit  :)  dont want to find the heater on the ground in the morning with stringy hdpe leading up through the hull.

I advise a little bit ov caution when using a pressure washer, the nozzel can start to peel plastic when placed too close.

Uhhh....we're meant to clean them????

 :smt002 :smt005 :smt044

Hose down with freshwater when I get home...I like the blood stains and don't try to get them off... :smt004

Think this is one of the things I like the most about yak fishing rather than a regular boat....Minimal maintenance...just hose it down to wash off the salt and sand and then I'm done!

 :smt003

Course my yaks probably don't look as pretty as some of your guys...in fact when Wilderness Hunter saw the T15 the other day he was like "That's your NEW kayak??"

Jim

I don't, unless I'm going to a lake that requires a clean and dry presentation.  Like Jim says, it's one of the fringe benefits of plastic kayaks.

I'm pretty certain salt and sand doesn't even hurt them.  Those who do clean them, (Hi, Buddy!) do so because of their personality quirks, or because they are worried about their vehicles getting sandy and rusty from the drippings.

Power Wash...for that BRAND NEW YAK LOOK (stickers BEWARE!)
Scrub and hose for that clean, but not NEW look.
Sweep off the rough stuff to keep from infecting your vechicle.
or .......do like AlHobie and let nature take its coarse  :smt003

~when on shore and yak is unloaded....i broom all the sand off at the beach.....then let it sit and drip dry....then on top of the car it goes = no sand in the windsheild wipers, no salt rotting the rubber seals around the doors and all that sandy clothing gets put into a tub. Reels, poles, VHF and FF get a freshwater rinse at the beach and then again at home.

Sand in my car is a badge of honor in my book  :smt044  That smell when you open the truck for the first time in 5 days is priceless  :smt005  I've had my 4Runner a year and a half now...Only been washed once  :smt003  Really do need to get a shop vac though  :smt002
