Can anyone recommend a good cleaning solution for my Hobie yak?  I don't want to try random cleaners in case they "melt" or damage the plastic, any advice on cleaning your yak is much appreciated.  WoW - I really do have a ton of questions.

Thanks for all the input.

i use good old fashioned Dawn with no problems.. i also used a boat wash once and it was fine.  I think any of your household dishwashing soaps would not hurt polyurethane.  hobie sells a boat cleaner that you can buy online, but i don't think its necessary.

I use just plain water and brush to clean my yak. Then I wipe it dry for storage.

Exactly my style  :smt044  I'll add that the rain has been giving the yaks a nice cleaning too  :smt005

When its brown with mud and has lots of sticks/leaves in all the bungee's I wash with the hose and my hand (special made scrubber, 4 million years in making).

when the inside has a great funk...water and drain, dry with portable heater in the hatch if needed

storage: under the eves where its dry and shady  :)

You don't even need Dawn.  Try it, it will make your yak shine.

The late lamented SCWAFISH had the best reccomendation I've found.  (BTW Please come back AKA SBD)

Liquid dishwashing soap for a scrub.  Let it dry on the boat, then powerwash. Works great for me once a year whether the boat needs it or not. (joke)  Only the worst bloodstains remain, and well, I guess I kind of like them anyway.

Just don't let it wash into your local creek.
