Cold hearted bastards!  why couldn't they have laid you off at the start of next years rockfish season?  Now, you're only looking at trout, dinos, or perch.   :smt011

Seriously, though, indications (at least from my POV) are of an improving market.  My fingers x'd for you and yours

Wish me luck, I have a phone interview with a company called Stem CentrX today as well as lunch next week with a company that is based in San Diego and wants to branch out to The Bay Area with another CRO facility that they would like me to manage.

Good Luck Tom!! And sorry to hear about the layoff.

I'm with you, I lost my job on October 29th... After almost 8 years with the company.

Negotiated a 6 month full salary severance. And I am collecting unemployment as severance is NOT considered wages...

But I've got 2 daughters in college and a friggin mortgage to pay.

I've been sending our 5-7 cover letters and resumes every day since. There is very little hiring going on the California.

But as of 10:20am last Saturday, I am no longer unemployed. Thank God!!

New gig is to run an organization with plants in Denver, CO and Bristol, VA. Cool thing is the owner believes in telecommuting. I'll still be gone from home
for weeks at a time, but for now we're staying in CA.

The best part is that for the next 5 months i"m getting 2 full salaries...

First work day is 1/24/11.

Yeah!!

Rich

Sounds awesome Rich!!!!

Well, it went pretty good, he does sound very interested, but still waiting for his budget approval so the company can even post the position as available. We shall see...................
My former supervisor did say it was an unposted position that he is trying to get approval on.

Well, that went well.  My last day on my former employers payroll ends Friday.  New job starts Monday.  Almost same pay as the last job but not lab manager position so none of the stress.  Yay, time to have a celebratory beer!
