I just sent in three shimano reels last week for factory service.  Actually I was down in the OC so I just walked them over to HQ in irvine.  Neatfacility.  25 bux each for the curado and a replacement corvalus.  Thirty for the charter special service.  They also replaced my spools Nd gave me the old ones back.  Not saying factory return is the cheapest or best option, but it is an option. One week turnaround, they mailed to my house, no shipping charge.

3 Areo 2000, 1 4000, stradic 2500. All have them have done this at one time or another when I'm fishing with them. I tore down the stradic last week. Cleaned and relubed it. Used it this week and it worke well, but it didn't get wet this time either. The things I read said there is a nylon antireverse part that swells when it gets wet and causes the binding problems. Never read a good solution about it tho. A Shimano rep piped up a couple times and never gave a solution to the problem and tended to skirt the issue. I was just curious if anyone heard of a solution.
