Tagging abs on your yak

Does anybody know if you have to tag your abs on your yak or can you wait until your back on shore? You don't register your yak, so I wouldn't think it's considered a boat or a vessel

Upon imediatly exiting the water. You can wait till you hit the beach is what ive encountered.  .... Oh ...and you should really think about changing your screen name!

A few years ago you were required to do your paperwork immediately upon exiting the water including being on your yak (was considered exiting the water).  Currently (started with 09 I think) you do not have to fill out your tags on the yak, only (immediately) after reaching shore.

If I'm yak diving I still do it in the yak so I don't forget. (I forgot one time back when it was required and it cost me $250). Also if I'm shore diving I say (only half joking) that I leave one foot in the water til I get my tagging done.
