Red Brotula sighting

Doing a little late season rockfishing the other day I hooked a medium sized lingcod that barfed up something as I unhooked it. The regurgitated item was bright, vermilion red, and I thought it was a squid at first, but a closer look showed it was one of these, a Red Brotula.
My photo turned out poor (wrong light setting) so here's one from the 'net. Even partially digested the color was like a live verm.

neve heard of one of those. Are they rare? its cool looking

I guess they aren't terribly rare, but they don't get very big only 10-15" or so. I had only seen them in books, so I was stoked to see one, even if it was barfed up.

There is also a purple variety.
