Sunday was a beautiful day in Monterey.  The sun came out at 10:30 and was perfect weather.  Little wind, 70ish and pretty decent visability.   I got the pleasure of shotting my first Hlibut while freediving in front of MBK .  I was to the right of the barge near the orange bouy.  Since I forgot my anchor and had to tie the float line to the Kayak and tow it around.  Made for a good work out.

I am still getting used to diving off my Kayak so I spent a bunch of time funbeling around in the water getting used to my new Henderson wetsuit and Omer fins.  I made a few dives and saw nothing but sand.   After getting comfortable in the water I finally grabbed my speargun and made a few more dives and saw this nice one just sitting there, like I have read about so many times.  I stared at it for a while trying to make sure he was legal and then after realizing it was a nice one, put an arrow in him dead center.

I went back in Monday with my anchor this time and saw no more...  I am planning on trying again tomorrow (Saturday 8/7).  If any one is out there lets hook up and diver together.

BTW, Where are the cement blocks out there?  Are they inside the barge or outside?  Thanks for any advice.

Any day on the water is better than a day at the office.

Thanks Guys.  Fish Master, I will be down there by 9:30 - 10:00.  I have a buddy comming who is going to rent a kayak, so we may not be in the water untill 10:30.

Dan, is that you? The San Benito White Sea Bass slayer?   Le's dive together some time.  Haven't seen you in a few years.

Regards,
Jarv

Yeah that's what I was thinking,

That pic brings back memories for me, I'm not sure how old my kids were before they realized that not all fish are caught with a spear.

Went camping in Oregon years ago, was watching a guy flyfish with my son who was about 3 and 1/2 and he says to me "what's he doin?" I say he's fishing, so of course my son looks up at me and honestly asks, "Where's his spear?"

Nice butt! That's a great spot for a family beach day too. Will be there tomorrow morning @ the crack of 9. Yakfishing though, not diving.
