hey Pat,

my GPS broke.. about how far off the shore is the Carmel Pinnacles SMR?

Porky,

You'll find this cool lat lon distance calculations at this site: http://jan.ucc.nau.edu/~cvm/latlongdist.html. Just enter in the lat/lon distances of the SMR coordinates and you will be able to find out the distances. I plotted the lat/lon distances from Santa Cruz and Moss Landing and just waiting when the salmon would come in closer at Moss Landing, then I'll probably head out there and try to get me some salmon.

I calculated the distance from 36 33.65'N 121 57.1'W (probably the beach area) to 36 33.65'N 121 57.6'W (inner point of the Carmel Pinnacles SMR) to be 0.463 miles, then it goes south from this point 0.634 miles.

So answer to your question: nearly 1/2 mile away from the shore.

Going Fishing?
Winds from the south, hook in
    the mouth.
Wind from the east, bite the least.
Wind from the north, further off.
Wind from the west, bite the
    best.

Back on the subject. I'm going to try Coral St tomorrow. Swells and wind still looking good
If the fog is dense I'll fall back on SWS

In the game of biggest fish, if you can't enjoy routinely gettin' your ass handed to you, by great fishermen, then you don't belong in the NCKA.
