We can all be labeled as hypocrite's as we all target some species or another during the spawn or other importand parts of the life cycle:
Lingcod move shallow to spawn = best time to try for one

Except in this case, in California, Lingcod are closed during this period for that exact reason.  Likewise, in many states (e.g. New York) bass season doesn't open until the beginning of summer, after the spawn.

I believe the compliant about keeping 2 bass was a bit overblown - no disrespect X, I'm just stating my opinion here.
I agree.  My initial response was a gut reaction and was an emotion fueled misfire to a sight I'm not used to seeing.  It accomplished nothing and my assumption was incorrect.

The other post I started was fueled more by rights vs practices of a particular group of fisherman.  I think this did accomplish something and revealed a middle ground that both groups can find acceptable.  Of course, neither side "has" to respect this middle ground.  But I think that we uncovered the things that will encite a response.  The "if it flys it dies" mentality gets about as much respect as the "release or else" mentality does.  If anything, the post shed light on how either side feels.  I can live with that.  Sorry for stirring the pot NCKA, I felt the need.

If they tell me their spot is getting hammered I'll listen so I don't ruin it. Nobody likes it when someone craps in their backyard.

Zee, as I stated before, in the 3 days I was out there fishing with everybody else (NCKA'ers)...only two fish were kept. I don't think we ruined / crapped in their backyard. And CL is not exactly a close drive for most of us. In fact, I only know a hand full of NCKA'ers that fish this lake periodically AND don't keep any fish at all. So as far as I'm concerned, no disrespect was given to any of the locals. I believe the compliant about keeping 2 bass was a bit overblown - no disrespect X, I'm just stating my opinion here.

And I'd like to add this: If you look back at all the Clear Lake reports here in NCKA...I'm almost sure that you will see that no one has ever kept a bass - even during the non-spawn season.

Just my 2 cents....
Sorry Mooch. I was speaking in general and didn't mean it directed to you or the event. My bad.
