Me and a half dozen buddies are looking to camp, fish, drink and shoot guns near the Lake Tahoe area in mid May. We are trying to find a secluded lake, 4wd acess ok, no Ranger Rick sleeping next door. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks
Will

Thanks Bigfoot, fishing reputation looks badass. I am outnumbered by non fishers so moving the pack away from South Lake gambling will be tough. You what the snowpack will look like around May 20?

If it warms up and you stay on the hard pack roads, a decent 4wheeler shouldn't have a problem.

Somehow our group will always find a problem. We will have a GMC 1500, jeep cherokee and maybe a Honda Pilot. Are we asking for trouble? It seems like the fishing will be choice late May.

Yes you will have a hard time if you try and go in off HWY 89. If you go in on the Dam side, Hwy 80 it is not as sloppy. http://www.fishsniffer.com/maps/stampede.html

Thanks for the info guys. I am definatly gonna check out Stampede this spring. The guy thats supposed to be planning this camping trip has ZERO camping experience and ZERO fishing desire :smt011. He found this http://www.washoecounty.us/parks/parkdetails~pkid=3
Im not so sure about a scenic pond and having to buy a Nevada fishing liscense. Might be to early, the dead man walking doesn't really want a whore. Most of the time its the rest of the guys anyways.

I was looking at Fallen Leaf Lake. Anybody ever been there or know anything about it?

Never camped there but have taken a few fish out of it. It's a great lake but narrow and close quarters. Davis might be your best bet. 3 day license would not cost to much and mid spring = not crowded. just guessing though. close to reno = easy drive. The Atlantis Casino (one of my jobs) is 20 min. Check out the glass atrium. I spent about 9 months on that section.

There are sweet cabins for rent @ Fallen Leaf lake. It's like 30 minutes from South Lake. Lots of cool stuff for the non-fishers to do too....swimming, hiking, drinking, etc. And the "entertainers" are usually willing to make the trip up to Fallen Leaf from Sough Lake lol.
Google "fallen leaf rentals" and you'll find some info.
