heck out this kayaks with a sidecar.  Do you think this is factory standard or owner-fabricated?

Looks like the manufacturer made it... Just a guess

I just cant ever imagine wanting something like that to haul around and hook up and load up. Actually i can ever imagine wanting all that crap he had on board too... makes me feel crowded just looking at it. Then you need half a day to pack and wash up all that... Dudes prolly way more pro then i will ever be, but too much stuff....

that's just a tramp.  they use those commonly on the hobie adventure island.  they connect to the amas so its really not much extra than normal.  if you check yakass' youtube page you will see the day he jumped onto his tramp because he was scared of a little bitty great white shark.

It ain't just you, porkman - I feel the same.  That gear was making me drool in terms of a fantasy world, but real-world for me is me, my yak, seat, paddle, cameras, fishing gear, safety gear and maybe a coldy.  That's enough by far!  That's the reason I waited nearly 10 years to get a fishfinder - now I'm slave to keeping that hunk o' crap functional.   :smt005

Maybe once my kids are bigger I'll want to tinker on that level, but I don't get tons of man-time, so I want to focus on where the rubber hits the road - that's me in and on the water or trekking the beaches and forests.   :smt001

i'm the same, try to pack light but i always end up bringing more than i need.  loss of focus. yakass does bring a lot of stuff, but most of that is related to his productions (videos, etc).  he has some cool trips like his sailing/camping trip he did.  if i was going to sail across to some islands for nearly a week long camping and fishing trip, i'd probably need more space to store all of my gear too.

yeah, his vidoes are cool, no doubt!!

yeah ive learned that i like less and less onboard, basically bring what Black Ab brings....

Few weeks ago i went out, and for some reason i ened up with my giant ass backpack on board, the car was already parked up the hill so I had to bring it out with me. Man i was so irritated with that thing and was so cramped for space. Why the hell would i ever bring that out. This year im really trying to slim down even the tackle. Something nice about not having a bunch of crap to look after. the best rod holder i have found is right under my knee. Thanks for sharing though, those are some cool videos!

Yeah, when I read the title, I assumed the sidecar w/b to bring youngins along on the water. Because that w/b really cool. It w/b stable, safe, and yet the kid feels independent in their own little sidecar yak. I guess paddling might be an issue. But only for non-hobies.

Hobie Adventure Island with one ama/outrigger.
Looks like he's got almost $10,000 invested (kayak, electronics, sharkshield, etc.)
Of course the polynesian canoes with ama came first (and discovered Americas)

That's just a simple change to the current design...

I'm rather new to yaking, but that seems like way too much stuff to have on board. A lot to set up and a lot to clean everytime. I'd rather keep it simple.
