i oughta be able to plug my camera in and download photos strait to the net.
You can just set your camera to shoot at 2 mp or resize in your camera after shooting then it's a snap. If you are just shooting pictures to post 2mp is plenty of quality I might change it back up if I see a shot I might want to print.

Nice job on the crabs :smt007.

Jack - If you think you're having a bad day - just think about those Humbolt squids.

Your point is a good one - it's not about this website as much as it is the camera software - when we copy the photos off our cameras it would be nice if we could specify a resize setting. It does seem silly to have every little snapshot copied at 10 mb or whatever when 95% of the time a fraction of that would be fine.

I believe most digital cameras have lower resolution settings!

it would be cool if we could post pictures strait to the thread from the camera without loading the photos to a file and then going back and forth from the photo file to the thread. it would be even cooler if the host site could automaticly re-megabyte the photos to whatever their particular site requires. i however, would be greatly appreciative if the site simply rejected the photos without deleting the post. no worries, sooner or later, i will figure it out. yesterday was a bad electronics day for kayakjack. i tried to scan my albion flyer into the computer with no success. then my fishfinder died upon launch. later my gps batteries died while looking for my crabpots. then i missed a really important call because my new cellphone has the volumne button on the side and seems to get turned down when i put it in and out of my pocket. this morning my navigation system kept trying to send me down a street that wasn't there.   man i miss the 70's.

In the 70s the ling limit was 5 fish (100lbs) , we caught salmon every year 3 fish limit could keep silvers, Stripers 5 fish limits no slot on dinos and a lot more steelies in the rivers (50 fish years). NCKA is great but hmm :smt002

I think you're right - but then if you want to keep one in high res it's too late - you captured it in low. So I end up shooting everything in High - then resizing everything I want to email, and leaving my computer all clogged up with a bazzilion high res photos. I'm not complaining - it would just be a convenient feature for me. Heck maybe I already have it :)

i also don't like how they call it "re-sizing" the photo even though it has nothing to do with the size of the photo. can anyone give me info on how to do this on my macbook i-photo ?

on the Optio when you view a photo hit mode choose the second option RESIZE hit OK change the resolution to 2mp or 1080 hit OK select OVERWRITE hit OK it will then be saved as a lower res. copy and be the last picture in the file and your can post right from the Cam or copy to a folder. After I post or Copy I delete it so I don't get it confused with the full size pic.

Hey Jack.....Nice to see you getting on the water.....

I can pretty much give you simple and easy lessons on how to re-size your images and post them I think.

EVEN IF YOU ARE ON A MAC.

Still not working so I have plenty of time.

Mind you......I have been SLAYING the Red and Brown Rock Crabs lately without even getting that wet.

PM me for details.

I saw those rock crab claws at Whole foods for $17 a pound shortly after I started catching them several years back. I love rock crab and those cooked claws freeze just fine.  While tedious, I clean the bigger crabs pretty thoroughly too.
Crab Cakes-
-Sautee celery, onion and carrot, letr cool
-fold in more crab meat than veggies and one egg
-toss in just enougfh panko to hold the patties together and sautee/lightly fry them hot in coconut (or olive) oil.  4-5 minutes to brown one side and 2-3 minutes on the flip side.  I do this in the hot oven on a hot sheet to lower the fry/carb factor...they cook in about 10 minutes in the oven
-spicing the cake mix.  I use salt, pepper and a few shakes of cayenne
We make an easy sauce with no-carb mayo, mustard, capers, grated orange peel and oj
I'm eating healthy (ahap) so a big mound of greens, wine and dinner is on.
