January is usually a slow month for me for trout trolling and 2010 has been REALLY SLOW.  :smt012 Got to the Quarry Lakes around 815 and launched at 845. Molly got to wear her new neoprene, camo, swim parka and seemed to like it.  Met Bink on the launch ramp and said hello and tried to keep Molly from jumping on him.  :smt005 Brand new Trident 13 in yellow, Quagga inspection will never be easier.  :smt005 Headed over to the back side first. Pulled a pair of J7's (firetiger, rainbow) for an hour or so for nada. Tried some grubs and spoons, then worked the wire down to 25' for nada. Luckily Molly stayed in the boat this time because the ranger was really checking us out. Called it a day at 1130AM. Walked molly around the lake then headed home with a quick stop at 99 Ranch. Saw some shore anglers soaking bait on fisherman's row with nice stringers. Rained a little in the morning but ended up being a great day on the water. Bink nice meeting you!!!

Thanks for the report. I went to the lake around 1:00pm to see if you were around. Guess you left before that. I've actually never caught a fish there before. Was hoping you could show me around. Maybe next time.

I had a slow day out on the lake as well.  I stayed until 1:30 PM with the same results.  There were a few trout caught off of boats of various types, but the shore anglers were the most successful.  Despite the slow day, I had a great day out on the lake.  I spent a lot of time learning how to use my fishfinder, VHF radio and kayak for fishing.  I barely missed the fish catching part ;) .  I'm sure the novelty will eventually wear off, but perhaps not.  I was having a lot of fun just being out paddling.  While my kayak still has not experienced an actual fish, I am really happy that I jumped into the 'Madness'.  Thanks for the hookup Scott.  It was great meeting you and Molly.  I look forward to fishing with you again.

Scott, Molly's fatigues look almost identical to her fur. It's like a wig. Blame the skunk on the rain.

Fished from shore on Sunday just down from the launch.  Got one at around 0730 and had another couple of hits by 0830.  After that nothing.  Fished through rain and cd until 1600.  Pretty dredful.  Caught the trout on light geen PB.  Go early, leave early.
