Yesterday I discovered that the guys up here in the PNW have a Pizza nite.  (2nd thrus each month)  Last night was the night, so I decided to stop by after work and meet some of the regulars.

Let me see if I can recall who all made it?  Jeff,  Ron, Insayn, Bsteves, Isack, Spot, and 2 others, whos names escape me now.
Insayn had brought in his new replacement "Rod Pod" hatch he built to replace his stock failing plastic one. It looked almost factory!  Guy's got skillz! Also for "show & tell" an anchor trolly that Insein fabracated for one of the other guys present was shown.  (holds ancor off back of hull) I think Zee posted something simular.

Ron  brought in a bag of his smoked  "Tuesday fish" steelhead I think, but OMG it was candy!
General topic of conversation was salmon, "springers"! It was interesting for me, to listen to them all talking about all the different salmon, kings, coho, springers, clamming crabbing etc.. when for last year all I've heard talk & read about had been rock fish from you guys here.
Whats closed down there, isn't up here. I'm not "Rubbing it in" (At least thats not my intent)really it's just a minor "Culture shock"  for me. It's probably good that all my fishing gear is there, otherwise my consentration at work would be out the door!

It was good to get together and meet the guys that some day I'll eventually go out with and fish.

Left around 8:30, drove home and passed out due to Pizza stupor!

WTG, man.  Glad you met up with some cool dudes.  It makes moving an easier pill to swallow when you've got pals.

It was good to meet you last night Troy.

Our monthly pizza and beer sessions have been going on for about three months now and it's a great way to put faces to usernames and maybe share some fishing information.   It seems popular enough that the Seattle area members are planning something similar soon.

sweet. I just started a new job as well a few weeks ago and the HQ is in Portland. I was up there last week (but left on Thurs). I will try and book trips around the social and when in town make sure I say hi. Does anyone fish the Willamette River? I kept staring at it and wondered?

Lots of people fish the Willamette.  In a couple months the springers (spring chinook) can be caught right in front of down town waterfront.  There is also a world class sturgeon fishery in the winter as well as good smallmouth fishing in the summer.  The only issue is that a good chunk of the river is a superfund site.  I wouldn't recommend eating the resident fish, but the salmon cruising through are fine.

What B said. South Puget Sound just had their first get together and now North Puget sound will have it's first next month. Really cool idea.
