Just saw a notice that the MLPA regs for the North Central Coast are supposed to go into effect on April 1 2010.

Apparently they didn't go into effect on Jan 1 as previously expected.

They need to go thru the Administrative Law review process,

They may not be final until after April 1 even, wouldn't that be something.

I didn't actually post this as a hookup, I posted it as general talk, then I guess Mooch thought it was a hookup so he moved it here.

I just posted it so people would know what's going on with the North central Coast closure timing, the new closures don't take effect until it goes thru all the reviews and has an official effective date, last year they said it would be Jan 1, now they say April 1,

That means that right now those areas are open for spearing at least, and if there is any more delay, there might be a chance to ab dive Horseshoe cove one more time,

I've seen this situation discussed with DFG before, until there is an offical closure date posted on the DFG website, it's open.

Just so you know.......

It would be a miracle if we could get some diveable water.

Yeah, the chance of getting safe water inside Horseshoe Cove in winter or even spring are pretty slim indeed.

Ya I got caught in something nasty out there in the early spring once. That was not fun. If a nice day opens up though I'd be up for it!

The S Cen Coast MPAs went into effect in late September (of 2007). So I guess we got somewhat of a reprieve because we got to fish the sacred spots one last time before closure. But it sure w/b cool if they delayed implementation of the N Cen Coast MPAs until Sept! It would give everybody one last shot.
