aw come on I am sure you have seen the you tube videos of the guys catching  the salmon sharks up north and hauling them across their laps!   I am with you on cutting the leader and letting it rust out of his jaws!  It is bad enough having to use pliers on the big rays when their tails are flying around, hard not to think of Steve Irwin!

Thanks for the report Duane. That must have been exciting knowing that a shark that big could do some serious damage. Thanks for the scouting report. Next time I will bring the ghosties. Craig

Nice write up & pics Duane. Kudos for riding the storm tail & scoring some shark action. Sounds like you are ready for the sturgies.

Awesome. I always wanted to get stuck into one of those big 7 gills and get towed around the bay.

At what point did you realise it was a 7 gill and not a sturgeon? Hopefully not after 2 hrs.........

I used the same leader all day and went through about 1/2 pound of grass shrimp and 6 old herring.

And as for the shark I did not care what it was I just knew that it was over size and could not keep it
I am kinda glad it was not a sturgeon because the poacher in me could have come out :smt005
