thanks for the info.  I have been curious about this kayak because i want a kayak that is quick to paddle and easy to stand up on for bass fishing.  i guess i will stay away for now.

Dang I was really interested in paddling a Stealth--that livebait tank is halibut heaven! And they were recently on sale at a local shop...almost bought one but I want to paddle before I buy.
And now I see this "issue" w/leaky hatches. Major bummer and I don't even want to test-paddle a Stealth now LOL. The fact this issue has been encountered by multiple people on different sides of the country is...not good.
Thanks for logging on and sharing your story w/us, h2ojunkie! Definitely keep us updated on how this is handled by your local shop or Malibu.
Man, just imagine if you were a mile offshore in Northern CA where avg temp is 54* and hypothermia begins after 45 minutes of exposure!!!

Yikes that would be brutal. A far cry from the 88 degree water temp I had that day along with a wetsuit on, I could have stayed out there for hours. I have spoken with Sean Caples from Malibu and he is very willing to help me and assures me Malibu is addressing the issue with the hatches as well so I am feeling better about it. I love the bait well, I use it very frequently. The kayak itself and the concepts are AWESOME so once everything is sealed properly this will be a bad ass yak.

I liked the kayak. Didn't want to deal with the leak. 1 hatch is one thing...both is a design issue.

My dealer took care of it for me and let me return the kayak.

From what they are telling me, they have redesigned the hatch and fixed the leak by putting in a new gasket. They are exchanging both of our kayaks and replacing them with the new redesigned hatch and seal. So if there is no more leak then this will be the kayak I was hoping for and I will be very happy with it. I will be sure to post after the first test run.
