I have a 700 series Humminbird that looks like it will mount ok, but it looks like it won't allow for enough clearance to completely shut the hatch. Is the 500 (580 & 565) series the largest Humminbird ff's that will fit in there and still be able to shut the hatch?

Seems like I find the answers to my question after posting it; looks like this is the consensus on ff size and the sonar shield:

My 798csi fits, BUT you have to mount it properly. The mounting holes are more to the port side than with the 500 or the 300 series. It has about 3/8" clearance on the sides and face when folded down. I move it between my Whaler and my T15.

Got it, I am assuming this will allow clearance for the off center "hump" on the back of the 700 series. Thanks for that. I will try again. I had the same plan for swapping this out.

I tried taping it in place to test the fit but never quite got it right.

Otherwise I was thinking about selling it and getting a 580.

The 7 series kinda fit but you can't quite close the lid all the way.  3 and 5 series fit easily.  What ever you do make sure to get the scupper transducer, it is the way to go.

I think that grayscale will be better for battery life anyway.

Thanks!
