Received my charts today from www.rockfishID.com. Got a folding one & flat one. Excellent, just what I needed & they have the additional info M2 was looking for. As Sin Coast said, They show key ID features, population range, max size and age, and age of maturation.

Those folding charts are awesome.

Just a heads up to anyone buying the book mentioned above, it is a great book BUT............. there's no mention of Lings or Cabezone.

That's because they aren't rockfish (genus Sebastes).  Lingcod are a hexagrammid (same family as greenling) and cabezons are cottids (the sculpin superfamily).  They are all however in the same order (Scorpaeniformes).

Okay.. fish nerd  hat off.  It's still a great book.

After catching an identifying the same type of rockfish a few times, you won't need the chart. I used to bring one OTW every trip, but now it just lives in my "random kayak-fishing stuff bag/box." Even though I still love a good mystery-fish!

Ditto on the rockfishID.com laminated chart.

It shows maximum age/size, and age/size to reach sexual maturity.  Great for making decisions on what to keep or release.
