I will be visiting friends in Arcata next week, from 7/5 thru 7/10, planning to fish as much as I can on 7/6, 7/7, 7/8 and 7/9. I plan to fish Trinidad, Humboldt and / or Arcata bays and possibly the cape unless the weather makes it impossible. Do any of you Humboldt area guys want to get in some week day fishing next week? My schedule is still open, so let me know what you're up for and we'll make some plans.

I'll also be at Shelter Cove this weekend, camping the nights of 7/3 and 7/4, fishing in the morning on 7/4 and 7/5, in case anyone wants to meet up.

Yeah, it's looking pretty good so far. I agree we should fish together on Saturday. We should also get together for a beer on Friday afternoon. Let me know where to find you and I'll bring a six pack.

I'm down for Saturday at the Cove.

We should be able to get out and do something next week too, Mike.  Keep your fingers crossed for light winds and maybe we'll make it over the hill...   :smt002

Man the swell is gonna be huge this wknd.......NOT!
The NOAA forecast calls for a 1ft NW swell. Just when I thought I'd never see conditions better than GS3.

This is from the experimental marine forecast model for Shelter Cove, specifically. Fun resource to play with: http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/mtr/

-Friday: Variable winds less than 5 kt becoming SW 5 to 7 kt in the morning. Mostly sunny. NW swell 1 foot or less. Wind waves around 1 ft.
-Friday Night: SW wind 5 to 7 kt becoming variable and less than 5 kt after midnight. Patchy fog after 11pm. WNW swell 1 foot or less. Wind waves around 1 ft.
-Independence Day: Variable winds less than 5 kt becoming WNW 5 to 7 kt in the morning. Patchy fog before 11am. WNW swell 1 foot or less. Wind waves around 1 ft.
-Saturday Night: WNW wind 5 to 7 kt becoming variable and less than 5 kt. Patchy fog after 11pm. WNW swell 1 foot or less. Wind waves around 1 ft.

So, uhhhh, yeah we're on for Saturday! Anybody else want to join me and Mike and Uncle Abby? I'm also fishing on Friday....possibly for albacore if they come within range and nobody wants to kayak fish w/me (world's tiniest violin).

Dare I say: Gimme Shelter 3.1

GS3.1 - I like it.   :smt003

Yeah, it sounds like it's likely to be FAC.  It's been in the 80's down there lately too...  Rough life.   :smt004
