Stripers have been hitting early in the am next to the marina - leave your cast net far away from you and your gear - 2 weeks ago one of my buddies was using a dip net and rec'd a ticket for posession of a cast net that was stored away and not even being used .

I'd reserve a camping space now though if you need one.  Nacimiento is draining very quickly and I hear it may be closed to all boats at some point this summer... possibly by August. :smt010  San Antonio will be getting a lot more pressure and wakeboarders, skiers etc if that happens.

Good luck and tight lines,

JK (in Paso)

Hey JK thanks for the heads up. I do not own A cast net so I have no worries. I like to camp @ the north shore so reservations are not needed. :smt004...

They call em "three-claw craws" down here. Kinda like the 3-eye fish on the Simpsons haha!

I really enjoy camping+fishing at San Anton' so I'm bummed I'll miss this one--already have plans w/the family. Because I've been trying to get an NCKA crew down to San Anton for years now. We should plan to campout in the fall too--I have good luck fishing in the fall there, with chance for a grand slam of bass: largemouth, smallmouth, spot, and striper. The average smallmouth is 14-15 inches!

Spotted bass dude. They're a total nuisance because they're prolific breeders and often stunt the largemouth populations wherever introduced. Some genius planted them in San Anton a few years ago. Probably brought them over the hill from Naci, where they are very abundant (8 of 10 bass caught at Naci will be spots and the biggest one will only be 14 inches!).

Here's a good report from San Anton last fall.

BTW: nice striper JK!! We should hit the lake this fall.

Gonna be in around the third cove in the North Shore near the launch ramp if anyone plans on heading out. Just look for the Man Van, I will be flying my American and Raiders flag high and proud!!! Targeted species will include the following Stripped bass, Smallies and largemouths!! I will be fishing for these species hard as I dont like sharing my AOTY spot with Sincoast!!!! :smt044....Andy
