Jumping into that barely above freezing water is insane!
that expression on Shirks face is proof positive that the water was in fact crazy cold.
the dude is part polar bear. Here are shots from years past displaying how impervious SHirk is to cold water.
Running from a bear at Upper Twin...
Had the same experience about that time but it was on the lower twin.
managed to fire off a photo over the shoulder in full flight.
Wonder if it was the same bear who just had a thing for kayakers?
does this head look familiar?

GREAT REPORT!!!   I absolutely love the Eastern Sierras.   Its one of my favorite places in hte world.    I never thought to kayak the streams up there, but you guys sure proved it can be done successfully.

Right on Terry! Looks like a great time was had be all. I miss the high sierra fishing days of my August backpacking trips. After reading your post, it really makes me want to go back!
