its your post so you can talk about anything you want. :smt002 So you have the 'brick' battery or the 8 or 10 AA's? What boat do you have? T13's have the bag in the bow. Assuming you don't have that boat many ppl use the loc-n-lock or snapware containers. Here is a link and you can find them at most OSH's or drug stores. Just get the size that fits your battery. You then thread a 2 prong trailer connector through a hole so you can disconnect it for charging. Some ppl also use a small dry bag instead of the container. You can secure it with goop or some zip tie it or clip it to an inverted pad eye. I use the brick battery and have the T13 bow battery bag. The pics are of my first set up. Oh and BTW the pic is with the optio W10 so you can see the quality

for sure. I actually don't put the brick in anything. Just the battery bag that came with my boat. It tucked up under the bow. So the only way its getting wet is if the entire boat floods. In that case the battery is the least of my issues.

The Cabelas brick of a battery fits perfectly inside a Target Lock n' Lock tupperware. Then just drill a hole the diameter of the power cord, insert a rubber gromit, and thread the power cord through it. Then attach the battery terminals. I've got pics at home and can post them if you want to see what I'm talking about.

And that's a good deal for the W30. I got the Olympus Stylus 1050 but it seems like the Optios take cleaner pics (after seeing other people's pics posted).

Yeah a battery loss is a minor issue in the scheme of things... :smt003 Thanks...for your input... :smt004

Don't forget to add a fuse to protect your FF!

Good point. I am definitely going to install an inline fuse for my next FF. But to be honest, I've been using the same Humminbird Matrix 27 for about 4 years w/out the fuse (approx 80 saltwater trips). And I haven't had any problems, yet. I've replaced the battery terminals about 4 times though, due to corrosion issues.

Even though the odds of getting enough water in the hull, then into the lock and lock I use are really slight, for a buck ninety nine, I added the fuse holder and 2amp fuse...

Using the 10XAA setup with lock-n-lock, on a Eagle 250S.  Yeah... No fuse on mine either, or grommet.  I added the 9V connector and properly soldered it to the power cable and used heat shrink tubing.    Just used a soldering iron to poke a hole big enough for the power cable, slipped it in, and gooped the outside and inside.  Filled up a bucket and forced it under water, no leaks at all!
