Was planning on heading towards Big Sur but nobody could make it down there and I would rather fish that area with company. So my friend Ernie and I went to SWS and launched around 10ish. It was kind of overcast all day but the water was nice, small swell, and light winds. Right when we got on the water I saw a bunch of cormorants sitting on the surface, diving and slowly following a school of bait fish. I paddled towards them and dropped the sabiki. Started catching mackerel, unfortunately the school swam south towards Carmel and we wanted to fish north towards Cypress Point. So we drifted live mackerel and live blue rockfish just praying for Mr. Ling to bite. No Love. I wanted a ling bad today and was let down. Caught a ton of blues and some blacks. Blues seem to be in abundance there. Two 2 lbers on one line was exciting as we drifted through schools of them. It was a nice day though I did better yesterday in PG.

I wanted a ling bad today and was let down.

I was disappointed a couple of trips back.  I'd broken off what felt like my best ling of the season and I was in a little funk at the same time as being spoiled on some great fishing.  I took time to re-evaluate my priority for being out there and getting the therapy that I try to focus on.  It made me feel better, and I now have a perspective of patience on my big ling quest.  It's a series of events, and not just one trip that will culminate in my success.  I must gain whatever positive energy that I can from each trip, or the culmination either will not happen or will not mean as much as it should.  I do believe that karma plays a strong role in what we catch and how our trips unfold.  Keep at it, calbear, and focus on the positive vibe you're creating while on the water.   :smt001

Being an honorable sportsman is way more important than what you catch.

I feel you on that ling-disappointment. I haven't caught a decent one yet this year, after having a red hot start to 08. Stillwater is a good place to hunt them though.

went to SWS and launched around 10ish
And yeah, we definitely need to hookup!

Sage advice here.
I am a little surprised you didn't get any lings on live macs & blue RF, even shorts. Oh well, see the quote from Countryman in my sig. :smt003
