Just wanted to get started and see what type of ocean kayak fishing there is in Monterey?
I've been living in Hawaii for the past couple years using my yak to fish for large game... MahiMahi, Ulua, and Wahoo. I usually use opelu (Horse Mackeral) for bait and either troll or drift in 120-250ft waters. What species are often caught in Monterey?
I look forward to getting out as often as I can this summer, and hope to meet a few friends. Any advice/ info would be awesome!

Welcome to the neighborhood. You will love fishing northern California waters (fresh and saltwater).

Monterey is a very nice place to live & to fish.  You're very lucky to live there.  As for the fish, you can catch many species of the rockfish family, sea perch, Cali-halibut, white sea bass,etc...to name a few.  Good luck with your relocation.

Welcome to the area!  Buy yourself a wetsuit or drysuit, this ain't tropical water here!  :smt002
