I was wondering if anyone has considered or used something other than a kayak or traditional large boat to ocean fish.
For example, the big 12' pontoon rigs that people use for whitewater allow great control for a two person team, but I have no idea if they would work in an ocean setting. Some of the issues I'm thinking of...

Allowing one person to fish in a dedicated way while someone else handles the boat control.
No motor... paddle or sail.
Able to handle surf and light enough to load on and off sometimes difficult launch spots.
Possibly be able to handle conditions a little rougher than a typical kayak.

Maybe a dory? Or a design trade off discussion about something that could be made but doesn't currently exist?

I think a two-person river 'toon w/a Minkotta Riptide trolling motor would work fine. Just don't flip it...because it w/b difficult to re-board it in the open ocean. Gotta pick and choose the days w/ideal conditions too. But it might be a good way to flyfish the ocean.
