Ok fellas. This isn't going to happen without some serious intervention. With my 10 month old daughter I don't have a lot of time on my hands but I'm willing to do whatever I can to get this great fishery back open to kayaks. We need to do some brain storming. I'm calling on the community hear to give some good ideas about how we can get the city counsel to reconsider their ban of outside boats launching at Loch Lomond.

I was there on Saturday and the rangers seem pretty open to ideas. They were talking about possibly setting up a kayak storage area where people could store a kayak that would be used exclusively at Loch Lomond. While this might be a good last ditch effort to be able to kayak this lake I would like to aim a little higher. I only have one kayak and would not be willing to leave it up there for 6 months out of the year so I can fish there occasionally.

So lets hear it guys....let the ideas flow.

As sad as this is to say, I'm gonna say it.  I think were screwed :smt013  I don't think the counsel is willing to admit that they made a mistake and are going to change their vote anytime soon.  (Just a feeling I have)  :smt010 Certainly not in this season.  And I suspect that as long as people continue to visit the lake and pay use fees, and rent the boats or bank fish, that really nothing will change.  I've sent my email to them, but who's to say it was even read?  (Spam filter probably got it!)
It sucks! Unfortunately their minds are made up, and were not going to change them.

Kayakers alone shouldn't have to bear this burden. We should encourage other types of boating enthusiasts to make their voices heard too. I bet there are a lot of people who don't even know about the closure of LL. Maybe post some info on other fishing sites that recreational boaters visit, like the sniffer, bask, etc.

I'm sure it was a CF up at the gate on opening day!  In the past, I've seen the line of boats to get in, backed all the way down the hill almost to Zayante Rd! If half the people didn't know about the boating closure this season, that still leaves way too many at the gate being turned away!  I didn't go up this year because I had heard of the boat ban, but how many didn't?

it was 3-4 vote to ban boats.  The political way is to see who is most wishy washy of the 4 and offer carrots or sticks.  I tend to be a stick guy.  So it depends on who voted which way.  A focused campaign might work here
