I had Thursday off work so I went fishing. Duh.
But I was split between kayak bassin (San Antonio or Pinto Lake) and saltwater shorefishing. Unfortunately the weather was crap. And the forecast called for t-storms....and I didn't want to be in a lake w/lightning.

Soooo I drove down the coast to Big Sur. Deeeep into the Sur. I wanted to find some new shore spots and scout for kayak launches. I also wanted to checkout the group sites at Plaskett Creek that I reserved for Sept 26/27.
Total count was only 3 fish: greenlings and a striped perch. Nothing special. But I logged about 5 miles hiking and found 6-7 new reefs to fish.

Here's Cali (that's my car's name) chillin roadside w/Pt Sur in the background.

The private beach near the Packard's vacation home. Absolutely beautiful down there....not that I've done it haha.

The secret beach north of Lucia. Sweet little waterfall that I never seen before.

Pacific Valley. One of my favorite places in the world.

Plaskett Creek campground group sites. I really should've taken more pics, but a ranger told me I had to check-in w/the camp host and I didn't feel like chatting. I had fish to catch! But the facilities looked nice and clean. Our own bathrooms nearby. And a big BBQ that looked sweet.

Went past Sand Dollar beach and stopped at Jade Cove. It looked fishy but the divers there said they didn't seen much inside the cove--too surgy.

I checked out Willow Creek but it was low tide and the waves were crushing.

The creek was flowing really strong, and there were some good holding spots for steelhead but I couldn't see any. Wish it was Wednesday so I could toss a 5wt in there. THEN this would've been the ultimate report with steelhead fishing the Big Sur and other creeks down here. Maybe next year.

Drove back up to Pacific Valley and caught a few greenling. Also lost a fat striped perch on the rocks. Otherwise, I spent more time hiking than fishing. Found some good new spots so I'm happy.
